Having studied Business Management at University, I had the opportunity to trial various topics within the world of business, and finance is the one that stood out to me. Here, I have shared some of the reasons that a career in financial services appealed to me.

Career options: The financial sector is incredibly diverse and offers numerous career options. Many entry-level roles provide experience across multiple departments, allowing you to get a real feel for the industry prior to making the decision to specialise in one aspect of the financial sector.

Growth & flexibility: Due to the volume of financial positions out there, there is a lot of room to progress in your career. Finance isn’t a location-specific job so there are plenty of opportunities to relocate if you’re looking to expand your career outside of your home country. In addition to this, the financial sector can be extremely flexible for those who are independently employed and can choose their own schedule.

Challenging career: No two days are the same. Due to the complexity of the sector, you are constantly faced with new challenges. This keeps you on your toes, intellectually stimulates you and helps you to grow and progress in your career. As a result, it can be very rewarding in the long-term.

Continuous learning: Employers in the financial sector like to see their employees continuing to advance their education. By gaining higher qualifications you increase your value as an adviser, which ultimately results in a higher salary, making it a win-win for both you and your company.
